He is a naughty boy is Rob Schneider (previous credit: ‘Deuce Bigalow’ ), playing ‘Ed Curtzman’, a producer of soft pornographic films based on how many college girls’ tops can be loosened to reveal their variously bouncing anatomical attributes. Fortunately, ‘American Virgin - Uncut’ provides a moderate tale of surprisingly modesty. It is a story about how one young lovely manages to hang onto her virginity and even gains a college entrance from an organisation preaching ‘abstinence before marriage’.

Despite countless attempts to encourage her to lose it completely, by some quirk she manages to hold onto her sanctity, even though believing that one debauched evening may have led her into the clutches of the aforementioned ‘Curtzman’. Sadly, this movie is punctuated by one too many moralistic references, which might have been fine had they not been accompanied by a raft of clichéd student occurrences, including a roomie, ‘Naz’ (Brianne Davis), possessing more than a soupcon of sexual proclivity.

It dissolves into a largely senseless road trip to Detroit, when ‘Priscilla’, played by the quite attractive Jenna Dewan, attempts to hunt down the aforementioned Curtzman, whom she believes is about to release a production, in which she believes herself to be a central attraction. It is upon her arrival at their hotel for the evening that she commences a sickeningly, saccharine-sweet ‘love-song’ with ‘Chuck’, played by Chase Ryan Jeffery, who becomes her muse subsequently to discovering that her boyfriend ‘Brad’ (Ben Marten) has been ‘having it away’ all along with the very girl that headed up the ‘no sex’ agency.

The storyline has been much-vaunted around the 1970s-80s film and TV scene and most of the toilet/student humour that accompanies it has been played out on so many occasions in the past that it is now largely unfunny. Mind you, glug a few bottles on a Saturday night and it may be the perfectly mindless movie that you need to lull you and your chums into stupor to forget the issues of the day. Not my scene at all and I doubt that it will find too many fans.
