Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction (PS3)
review by: Gaz Deaves
Ratchet and Clank have been hailed as the saviours of PlayStation 3 this Xmas, and rightly so - they've arrived just in the nick of time with an instant classic and a much needed boost for Sony's ailing console.
This PS3 debut sticks to the formula that worked so well in previous Ratchet games: the solid platform action is supported by bright, colourful graphics, witty dialogue and vehicle-based minigames for variety. The characters are engaging and the voice acting is excellent, but the real star of the show is the ACME-style arsenal of comedy weapons including a deadly disco ball and a gun that shoots bees.
Some older gamers may be turned off by the kid-friendly visuals, but the action is grown-up enough and the bright colours make a welcome change from gloomy pre-Xmas weather. A must-have for PS3 owners this year. |
