Tony Hawk's Proving Ground (PS3, Xbox 360)
3.5/5
review by: Gaz Deaves

This ninth addition to the long running skateboard franchise adds a raft of new features, but looks tired compared to its predecessors. Anyone who's played a previous Tony Hawk game will know exactly what to expect: guide your skater through a series of trick-related goals and competitions to prove you're the best.

There are a couple of new additions to keep things fresh, including the ability to rig up additional ramps and rails around the levels, but most of these feel tacked on rather than adding anything meaningful to the experience. Visually, Proving Ground is pleasant enough, although its East Coast setting ends up looking a little gloomy at times.

While it’s far from the best entry in the Tony Hawk series, Proving Ground is still a decent enough skating game, however fans of the series will be slightly disappointed with what’s on offer here.
