Pokémon White Version (DS)
Nintendo

review by: Laura Proto
With the new Pokémon comes the new journey, and overall, the gameplay of Pokémon White was good from the start.
When you hear the word ‘Pokémon’, you think it’s a game in which you catch Pokémon, train them, and then go on to beat the champion. Pokémon White is different, as the storyline revolves around your protagonist trainer, be it a boy or a girl. Your job is to, of course, fill the Pokédex with as many Pokémon as possible and work to become the greatest Pokémon trainer of all. But with Team Plasma running around, the journey you had planned is just a small step to saving the world.
Team Plasma’s goal is to have everyone release their Pokémon and become separated from them. Your job as a Pokémon trainer is to stop Team Plasma from making everyone release their Pokémon, while trying to become the Champion. You’re not totally on your own, as you also get helped by the Gym Leaders around the Isshu region. Team Plasma play a huge part in the story, so make sure you pay close attention!
Pokémon has always been a two dimensional game, but White is different. The environments and buildings are 3D and there are special seasonal changes such as, snow falling and leaves changing colour in the autumn. These season changes affect Pokémon locations and they way certain Pokémon look in the time frame. This game takes a huge step forward from the previous Pokémon games when it comes to the environments.
The gameplay of Pokémon White has become a little more enhanced from the last game in the franchise. Like previous Pokémon games, you have single battles, double battles, which were added in Ruby and Sapphire, and now you have Triple and Revolving Battles. In these battles, both trainers throw out three Pokémon, and like the other battles, they take turns in firing attacks. Along with the new types of battles, you have the newly updated Pokédex as well as the new Pokémon, so you have an entire Pokédex to fill yourself! If that wasn’t enough to keep you busy, you can breed Pokémon, run around buildings, surf on your water Pokémon and more. Overall, a must have for fans of the Pokémon franchise! |
