Martin Landsky – Werkschau (Album Review)
Poker Flat Recordings
review by: Sav D’Souza
German producer and DJ Landsky mixes up the techno beats to good effect.
‘2000 Miles’ is the opener a nice reworking of Landsky’s best known track 100 miles, the trance synth making it a funky track.
The slower paced ‘Personal Decay’ builds nicely with its space invaders bleeps to incorporating a free styling sound switching back and forward. Good track.
Not a huge fan of Detroit Grand Pubahs Surrender, but this remix is OK and highlights Landsky’s mixing skilss but vocals still suck more eggs than Cool Hand Luke.
Soopa-Fi’s ‘Talkin Large’ gets the Landsky treatment producing a sunny upbeat feel, a good mix with a hint of intrigue and nice tension nicely built in.
‘Let me Dance’ has a kind of retro 80s soul feel about it but works well.
Back to deep techno territory for ‘Crude Clay’.
The album acts as a best of Landsky’s work to date and for the most part it stands the test of time well. Mixing up his duel passion for techno and house producing a good compilation of funky minimal techno house mixes. |
