Misfits – Original Soundtrack (Album Review)
Sony Music
4.5/5
review by: Amy Castle

Sony has released the soundtrack to the cult TV show Misfits, with a great assortment of indie, rock and alternative rock.

With music playing a large part in the cult TV show, it must have been easy to depict the series through the record, and every song tells a story from the programme itself.

Some great bands feature on the album, from the likes of Blur to the Fratellis, and every song echoes the drama in the series brilliantly.

Lullaby by The Cure is a popular track, with its well-known intro and late-80s vibe. It fits the theme of the series well, and is a great song.

Thickfreakness by The Black Keys is a rocking blues track, with plenty of soul and growling vocals. Once again, it’s perfect for this album.

Massive Attack’s Paradise Circus has that simple three-bar melody at the start, which continues throughout the song, and the easy-on-the-ear vocals make for easy listening. The single has been heard on a lot of TV series, another instantly-recognisable track.

Fans of the series say they’re pleased to see all the songs they’ve heard on the series feature on the album – no surprise there then as the soundtrack does feature all the big hits from the show, but I don’t just like it as a soundtrack to a TV series... I like it as an album. For the music, not just for the series, is a great mix of old and new, and has something for everyone.
